Yes Michael, good to see such renewed competition for our top 10.
And depthwise 13 British women in the top 400 on Monday ( and quite well within at that ) will be 2 more than there has been for a long time, certainly since at least the start of 2018 which is as far back as I can readily check. So more than covering just the arrival of Naiktha. And indeed I suspect that it is the most within the top 400 in a considerable number of years.
The 6th game in the second set was critical. Fran had 4 GPs to go 4-1 up, but failed to take any of them, and then got broken on the second BP against her that followed. This brought the set back on serve. She held for 4-3, but then lost the last three games.
She will need to reset again now. Yesterday she also lost the 2nd set, but then regrouped.
Ups and downs still. This time the very first game of the final set was crucial. Fran lost the first three points to go *0-40 down, but then won 5 pts in a row to hold service, and next game broke to go *2-0. But then she promptly lost her serve to love, but then broke again to 15, and this time held her serve to 15, winning 4 pts in a row again.
Now she's on a real row, won 8 pts in a row to go 0-40 up on Cristian's serve, and has broken again to 15. One game to go 7-6(6) 4-6 *5-1
Wow, two in a row for Fran now. Just to add the rankings to Grachka's post, because it's a very good win for Fran, and is in fact just 3 off her CB win of 227!
