Week 25 - ATP 500 - Fever-Tree Championships - The Queen's Club, London, Great Britain (grass)

The main draw singles entry list is here & includes Kyle & Cam.  On the basis of the rankings on 7th May, Kevin Anderson will be the top seed, but I expect that will change when tomorrow's rankings are published.

The qualies list is here.  The LTA comments that the "field is so strong that five players ranked inside the world's Top 100, including 2005 runner-up Ivo Karlovic, were unable to get in".  All the players on the list are in fact inside the top 100.  No Brits among them, but neither the qualies wild cards nor the main draw wild cards appear to have been announced yet, so there's hope...

Nor forgetting Evo.  wink  The LTA comments as follows:

Wild cards have been reserved for Andy Murray, who has a career-long commitment to the tournament, in case he is fit enough to play, and last year's runner-up Novak Djokovic and 2008 champion Rafael Nadal, should they want to join the line-up nearer the time of the event.

These are new annoucements today actually with Dan having been announced prevously. I think the LTA quote is from Dan's announcement (?) and that (unsurprisingly) none of Andy, Novak or Rafa will be playing singles at Queens and so had 2 Wc's to hand our still so choose Jay and Feli.

Edit - in fact Dan isn't even on your link list at the top there!? I can only see Kyle, Cam, Kyle for GBR? am sure Dan has one though

You are quite right Flaming Owings (smilebiggrin ), Dan does have a WC, announced as per below

For some reason they have left him off the entry list below on the website, but we know these guys are pretty **** at these types of things!

the qualies list is crazy strong, 3 top 50 players . I cant recall what other ATp500 events typically get, Halle list starts at 62 althouggh it ends at 90 similar to Queens. But Queens has 6 players above the first Halle  entrant

I see Raonic has reappeared this week in Stuttgart (singles and doubles) after a minor injury layoff but I do wonder if Anderson will actually play who has been struggling since Wimbledon last year with the elbow.

the draw to me is one of the most interesting they have had - whilst missing a top 4 big name, it is stacked with every talented player around, really good set of attractive ball players. I really want to see how tsitsipas goes in Den bosch this week and then Queens, and then Wimbledon. He is my tip to win the thing. Grass is about shot playing at its best and that is what makes it so different from other surfaces, guys like ST, Shapo, FAA , Medvedev, De Minaur, Dan Evans, all have such variety and skill, not to mention Del Potro, Wawrinka, Kyrgios etc etc

I'm (fairly) seriously considering going to watch qualifying on Saturday (weather permitting). Does anyone know what sort of time it's advisable to arrive? Thanks.

I wonder if anyone had any thoughts on wild cards into qualies here and for ilkley? With Kyle, cam, Dan and Jay all here in main draw and a 16 man qualie field, I think they get to give 3 wild cards. Presumably James ward is one, given his ranking and history here. The ilkley event will give 4 wild cards wont it and I'd have thought right now Paul jubb , as a yorkshireman, and Jack Draper and evan Hoyt would be best placed sticking at challenger level. And I'd also think Ryan peniston worthy of ilkley WC to make it 4, as opposed to queens qualies. The other 2 queens qualies therefore might go to lloyd glasspool, but then who next, Liam broady perhaps or would he be best up at ilkley? And where is Jack findel-hawkins at the moment, anyone know?
