Week 24 - ITF (W100) - Manchester, Great Britain - Grass

I don't see how saying "gutted that Katy was unfortunately unable to play" is a big drama. It's true, and Katy was obviously protecting something minor rather than really injured as she was fine competing in her singles. So frustration understandable.

I don't see any sign they've actually fallen out.

Emily and Gabi entered Wimbledon together last year but weren't given a WC.

The remaining qualifying matches were completed indoors - Lily qualified.

Sam plays Asia.

Emphatically as well, 6-0 6-2. Is Lily based in the UK? I know one was grass and one indoors and there could be other external factors, but it doesn't reflect too great on Alice as she lost 1 and 2 to the Brazilian yesterday.

Mind, the young Chinese predominant doubles players Tang shocked top Q seed Paar (who is having a great year) yesterday (she was 15/2 at Bet365), but she went down 0 and 2 indoors today in the other FQR match that was carried over.

Could they start to move the main draw matches scheduled for today indoors, with the weather forecast it would seem sensible to start things moving as the next few days arent going to get much better it seems.

Could they even play the doubles inside, if they prefer to keep the singles outside for as long as possible?

the ITF site is still showing a 2pm not earlier than start, clearly that is definitely the case!

They have 7 singles matches on the cards today, could easily put them on to indoor courts and get them done - presume though they dont want to split the first round field onto two surfaces?

They've just tweeted that there's no play today. Resumes tomorrow at 10.30am.

This came up three years ago in connection with a tournament in Spain.

From The Optimist "....Lily is at university in Oklahoma and is a quasi Brit, having grown up in this country."

Lily is now 23, has played a few events in Europe and the USA during the last year, and also appeared for Surrey in the County Cup.

Hence a name that catches my eye when she plays tournaments in this country.

They are scheduling all 16 womens first round matches tomorrow but to be frank the forecast is just like today right the way through until Saturday. I suspect they must need to take a call and use indoor courts tomorrow if play cant start on time. They would get 16 matches done in one day, assuming they have 4 indoor courts available?

You're looking at a different forecast to me. The Met Office forecast for Didsbury tomorrow is for it to be cloudy but dry up to 6pm.

They only have three indoor courts, but I'm sure they could manage 5 matches on each, with one TBA

BBC Weather forecast for Didsbury (not sure if this link takes you there) shows rain all day at just around 40% chance...
