Week 24 - ITF (W100) - Manchester, Great Britain - Grass

Further down the alt list is Eden Richardson who won two q rounds here last year and reached the MD. Those 6 WTA pts will be dropping off now.

By my calculations, Ingrid Neel should be last in quals directly, and if Jodie is injured, that would make Vic 1st alt, so a very good chance of not needing that QWC.

I would think that if Katy doesn't need her MDWC then it would go to Victoria, so either way it would free up the QWC. I'd like to see some of our US College players get opportunities, so I hope, say, Eden R and Holly H get two of the QWCs.

Yeah, that would be a good choice assuming Katy does get in directly, which she should now. I was also thinking Eden R would be good option of a QWC after her success last year. I was also hoping Angelica Blake would have competed in something, even if it was one of those BT events in recent weeks - it will likely be unrealistic to give her a QWC here, but I've got no idea what her level or potential is like and whether she could actually be half decent, or just end up like those typically losing 1-6 2-6 in W25 quals.

Whatever happens, Manchester qualifying should be completely different to Surbiton and we may actually get a couple of GB vs GB matches with some potential seeds, rather than just having 4 QWCs who were all in deep like last week.

By process of elimination, EWS, Sam and Ella will all be in Manchester qualifying directly, so that will free up QWCs. I can't see Jodie playing next week when you take into account the Nottingham and Manchester MDWCs and Nottm QWCs.

You appear to be right as Jodie has withdrawn.

Emily W-S is on her way to a tournament, so I reckon Ace has it right, and she is in Manchester

How does qualifying and sign in work? Ying Ying Duan has just finished her RG W doubles match. Does she need to be in Manchester to sign in before 6pm tonight? She's one behind Katy in the entry list, so one extra withdrawal and she will probably get in directly, but if not and wants to play, does she need to get a move on?

I'd have thought she'd have withdrew, but then Rodionova lost a final in Spain last Sunday and turned up for Surbiton quals the next day, so you never know. Babos is meant to be in the main draw.

I believe in this kind of circumstance she can phone in and she would only need to be on site at the venue by the start of the qualifying matches on Monday am.

Yes, as Michael says, they can sign in by phone by the deadline, but must be on-site and ready to play in accordance with the schedule.

Have they not got online or apps solutions for the players for this yet?

Looks like Em has been given Katy's unneeded wildcard as she's not in the draw. Interesting decision given a win over an unranked Brit in the first round of qualies would be worth 4 points.

11 Brits in qualifying ! That's good to see. The draw doesn't show wild cards, but some of the Brits were way down the alt list.

Here's the QR1 draw. Eden Richardson is not in the draw here either, despite winning 2 qual matches last year.

Last direct acceptance, Mpukusa, is so far down the alt list, that the next 4 that signed in were probably all Brits so no need for WCs to be awarded.

So EWS should also be in the main draw, and Ella Taylor is also missing from this list.
