Week 24 - Challenger (€137,560+H) - Nature Valley Open, Nottingham, Great Britain (grass)

Yes I had to chuckle when he said how British it was!
But very well done Dan - fabulous winning streak.
The stream actually kept going for a while and I thought we were going to see the trophy presentation. Sadly not.

And he's up to WR 63 now which should make him a little happier too!

Only 15 points to come off between now and 19/8. Will be an interesting 2 months to see where he can get to.

Yes, I heard it as Dan, complaining that he couldn't convert a single BP. Pathetic and very British. And he had a point - he had 18 BPs in that match. And only converted 3.

But he got it when it mattered

Lol, Federer's BP conversion is notoriously awful!

Well done Dan. I hope he still has some gas in the tank to face Stan in a few days...might be worth taking Eastbourne off though?

I guess it depends on what he does at Queens if hes out first match and then has the rest of the week off, he might think Im playing well I might have a good chance in a 250 on grass.

I know Julia, you always feel you need to put your tin hat on. It's just that particular comment that made me laugh. But luckily he's done it this year!

Yes, agreed on both counts.  Probably Hawkeye's presence helped a bit  this year since his number of targets to be annoyed with was reduced somewhat thus conserving energy !!

nice win! At his best Dan is not a Challenger player.

At his best Dan is better than both Cam and Kyle. Fully expect him to be GB number 1 by US Open.

Just extrapolating from Steven's "Brits in ATP Challengers Finals" in the stats section, for British challenger titles this century Evo is now just 1 behind Boggo and has moved ahead of everyone for total finals.

Brits in ATP Challenger finals this century :

1. A Bogdanovic W 9, L 4
2. D Evans W 8, L 6

I guess though that he's not particularly looking to be playing further challenger events in the near future.

In fact, it may well be that for Dan that is the last we will see of him at Challenger level , stop. I hope so. Certainly he should be a slam dunk into the US Opens, Aussie Open and should certainly be playing full Tour level through then. Presumably with a rank of around 60 he will still need to improve to get into Cinci, Canada, Shanghai and Paris events, probably up above 50 to be safe I would imagine for the first two and perhaps into the top 40 for the latter two events if he can.

I think he'll be the UK challengers next year - he said in his interview he'd always play Nottingham, always, it was his favourite, and that he just loved playing in England, England was the best place in the world - bless
