Wow, and a few fantastic serves there for Katy at the end to leave Smitkova with no chance. biggrin

For someone who said she couldn't play tennis earlier this year, Katy seems to have found her game and motivation again, which is good to see. Gabi, hope you're watching!

Consecutive straights sets wins over higher ranked players for both Katy and Heather.

Should do wonders for the their confidence.

Those are both decent wins. Good to see Heather continue her recent Japanese form on the artificial grass over there.

Good recovery from Heather coming from 0-4 and then winning the next 9 games.

I've been out all morning, and missed all this. Great to see them both win in straight sets.

Excellent wins from Heather & Katy. Certainly Katy D's turn to shine having been a bit overshadowed last year. Well done both.

Yes, the live guaranteed points for 17/06 ( the rankings before the WC announcement ) after our top ranked 4 are:

5. Katie S 262 points
6. Naiktha 239
7. Jodie 238
8. Katy D 206 ( including 13 so far this week ).

Out of interest I was looking at the relevant rankings last year when we had 6 MD WCs. Lowest ranked of these then was Katy D at WR 222 and it was good that she got in to join the others. Naiktha, Jodie and Katy D are currently lower ranked than all of last year's GB MD WCs.

Now 8. Katy D 218 ( including 25 )

A QF win would add a further 25 points and take her above Naiktha and Jodie for guaranteed 17/06 points.

'Just' got to get past (3) Alison Riske WR 62

Katy and EWS have withdrawn from their doubles, presumably Katy protecting herself? Anyway, leaves the winners of the match between Heather/Wickmayer and Bains/Broady as out last pairing/player in womens doubles
