Week 22 - ITF (W25) - Hong Kong, China - Hard

Emily App appears here this week after the short journey from Singapore. Unfortunately she will inevitably lose again.

R32: Emily APPLETON (GBR) [IR] 711/18 vs Abigail TERE-APISAH (PNG) [7] 369 (CH:276 Aug18)

Better news is that in the doubles she plays with Catherine Harrison (USA) again, with whom she lost in the doubles final last week. It would be good if she could bring some of that form to the singles too.

Emily went an early break up in the first set, and held her serve twice. That was as good as it got, as she then lost 5 games in a row to lose the set 4-6.
Not expecting much of the second set. We'll see.

Well you were right. Lost 5 games in a row to *1-5, rallied a bit to *3-5, save 4 match points, but lost the 5th.

Emily shows flashes of promise at times in a match, but doesn't sustain them. Back to the doubles again this week.

But Emily and Catherine have now given a walkover in their QF. Catherine is still playing singles tomorrow, so I assume its probably because Emily wants to return to the UK. Their doubles QF was due to be played as well today, but has been carried over again until tomorrow. The schedule has been rain affected most of the week.
