Sam saved 5 match points, two earlier and three in the tie break. She pulled back from 1-5 and 2-6 to 5-6 but couldn't quite make it.

I remembered 4 but corrected it to 5.

Aww. Great effort. Saved 5 MPs in all, 2 during the final set *4-5 game and 3 from 2-6* in the TB.

After her 25K SF in Jerusalem last week this is very encouraging..

Edit: I double checked the ITF momentum graph and it does indicate 5 MPs saved in all, showing Sam twice ad down at *4-5

Tough result for Sam in the end but a wonderful match and should give her a lot of confidence going into the grass season. Hope she will get to play a few tournaments!

And just to note Peter, Sam was not 5th seed, just a qualifier (where she was q5).

Apart from confirming they will now get at least decent 30 points haul each, it also suggests they've recovered from their earlier fatigue too!
