One of out two is fair enough given the draws here. Rus next for Sam, so a free hit for her. Rus was given a competitive match today by the WR 442 so Sam shouldn't be overawed.

I still think Emily should have called it a day after Jerusalem and taken a break. She admitted last week that she had hit the wall after a tough singles match.
This was her 17th singles match of this 4 week trip (11 wins, 6 losses), and she's had 11 doubles matches so far (9 wins, 2 losses plus one walkover). That's a lot of tennis.
Sofia also seems to be struggling now.
I see Sofia has withdrawn today from qualifying in Poland next week (a W60+H). Emily is still an alt on the Surbiton entry list but doubt she will get a QWC. Wondered though if she and Sofia might get a doubles WC. Imagine Olivia and Beth will get one first though.
Depends whether Liv is fit or not doesn't it. It must have been her that withdrew the other week, as Beth has been playing league tennis in the meantime.
Irene BURILLO ESCORIHUELA retired from her singles
They received a bye into the QF too. So don't think they get any points yet, unless they win their SF match? 18 pts for reaching the SF would not count for Sofia, but it would for Emily.
Yes if they lose their SF they will get just 1 point. Now that ITF doubles entry uses singles ranking they won't get into the grass events I doubt.
Emily does seem to be playing better this run of events, but unfortunate draws last two weeks have hampered her getting above a few of the girls she will be competing against in pre-qualies. Others, like Sam and Lissey, have benefited from the weak fields.
The livescore for Sam's doubles against the 4th seeds is stuck now at 6-4 4-0 30-40*
Hope that means they are over the line now ... and now indeed showing suddenly as a 6-4 6-0 win. Wonderful
