L64: (11) Rajeev Ram (USA) & Joe Salisbury CR 47 (24+23) defeated Damir Dzumhur & Filip Krajinovic (BIH/SRB) UNR (297+0) by 4-5* retired (just as Joe & Rajeev were about to lose the set!)
Hmm... Krajinovic is still alive in the singles, having beaten Tiafoe (32) in five sets in the first round & then Carballés in straight sets in the second. Dzumhur lost in four sets to the local wild card, Hoang, in the first round.
I was watching the stream. Dzumhur took a bad fall on to his side at 15-30. Joe hit a volley back behind Damir, he twisted, lunged and fell to get to it and he made the shot but lost the point so Joe and Rajeev had two break back points but Dzumhur stayed down in some pain. His partner helped him up and he had some treatment on his shoulder but couldn't continue. Shame for them. Hopefully Joe can continue to progress though.
The seeds have fallen like flies today, with Klaasen & Venus (6), González & Zeballos (9), Dodig & ERV (12), Maclachlan & Struff (15) & Krajicek & Sitak (16) following Jamie & Bruno out of the exit door!
For what it's worth, Dom's interim new partner, Klizan, came from two sets down to beat Kuku in five in the singles, so he should have his eye in...
Klizan's definitely got his eye in: he's just beaten Pouille (22), 9-7 in the fifth! The match lasted for four hours & seven minutes, but the finish was held over from yesterday, with Klizan leading by 7-6(4) 2-6 6-3 3-1*, so he hasn't spent as long on court today as Paire (one half of his & Dom's opponents later today) will have by the time he finishes his match against Pablo Carreńo (Paire leads by 6-5* in the third after an hour & 50 minutes, one set apiece).
