Well 1/3 and for me, it was unexpected given form. Well done Kyle. Dan seems to have given a pretty good account of himself.
He and Cam are in the doubles tomorrow.

For the record:

L128:  (Q) Elliot Benchetrit (FRA) WR 273 defeated Cameron Norrie WR 41 by 3, 0 & 2  bleh

Clearly, my confidence following Kyrgios' withdrawal was misplaced!  cry

L128:  (28) Kyle Edmund WR 30 defeated Jérémy Chardy (FRA) WR 41 by 7-6(1) 5-7 6-4 4-6 7-5   Phew animated emoticon

*****

L64:  Pablo Cuevas (URU) WR 47 (CH = 19 in August 2016) vs (28) Kyle Edmund WR 30

L128:  (23) Fernando Verdasco (ESP) WR 27 defeated Daniel Evans WR 80 by 6-3 6-7(4) 6-3 6-2  hmm

In his interview on ITV, Cam Norrie says he was a bit nervous and just never got going. He says Elliott Ben. was confident, came out firing and Cam just wasn't enjoying it, couldn't execute and it was simply a bad day.....

And Paire takes it by 11-9 in the fifth after four hours & 33 minutes...  He's not a bad-looking bloke.  Why does he have to sport that ghastly beard? disbelief   PHH (he of the rather odd service action!), on the other hand, is also rather odd-looking.  Maybe he'd benefit from a beard...

He is a beard ambassador so he gets paid to. Google it -I'm not kidding! Herbert has great cheekbone structure which is a nickname of his on forums. He is also a good singer, there was a short video of him singing Wonderwall by Oasis not that long ago -it's on YouTube.

Excellent 5th set. Even Andy was watching it! Shame there can only be one winner in matches such as that

I'll take your word for it:  my revulsion towards facial hair (& tattoos & piercings of any kind & topknots...) is such that I couldn't bear to, er, enlighten myself!  Nor am I inclined to read up on PHH's "great cheekbone structure" in any fora dedicated to such a subject.  The Oasis reference went right over my head, as I have no interest whatsoever in current/recent "pop" music culture (= tuneless cacophony, as far as I'm concerned), so I have no intention of going there, either.  Thanks for the explanation, though.

Well. Consider me flattened on all accounts then.
