Well, unfortunately there's no getting round the fact that Val Gram played by far the more positive and aggressive tennis at the end and deserved, on that basis, to win.
Hev's MP that clipped the net and could have gone either way is a real shame. But her dinking and pushing the ball, against a player as nippy as Valentini, is just daft and asking for trouble.
And just like that the confidence takes another battering. To win from a set and a break down would have been a phenomenal boost, instead she loses from match points up. It almost feels like it would have been better to have lost in straight sets.
Outplayed in the tiebreak. What a blow

I was watching on live scores and the ending reminded me very much of when I saw Heather play in Madrid in 2015 against Duque Mariņo, where Hev had several MPs (including a net cord that went against her) but ended up losing in the 3rd set breaker.
