Week 21 - ITF (W25) - Jerusalem, Israel - Hard

Yes, looking good for Jodie and hopefully she can wrap it up.

Not so good for Em and Sofia, who are a double break down at *0-5

One game away, 7-5 5-2*. A pretty big match for her in the potential jostling for position in the general grass WC race. These points won't get added before Surbiton WCs are announced, but if she does win here and sees off Sam (not wanting to get too far ahead of myself) then she would be all but above Katy, certainly in terms of guaranteed points which might be crucial. Harriet should get in the main draw, but if Boulter did ask for a WC (may be well off with that), then her, Swan and Bains would probably be the 3 leading players and then you'd probably think Jodie would pip Katy for the 4th. She'd certainly be officially ahead by the time Manchester WCs were announced, should she go that way and not Nottm.

*5-3 now, serving for the match. 30-15

Oh dear, had a MP, but now back on serve...

Well done girls.

An uncharacteristically bad day at the office for Em and Sofia, although the first set was actually quite tight, they just lost all the deuce games. Sofia has played a lot of tennis in the intense heat this week. Never mind.

Well done Jodie !

Em and Sofia's run finishes with a 1 & 2 loss in the SF.
Sam due on court later - one of her opponents is the girl Jodie just beat, so there is a rest period.

Jodie and Sam are first on at 8am UK tomorrow (10am Israel) and the 2nd women's SF follows on, so there'll be no waiting about for the men to finish this time.

Huge match for both. I was just checking and 67% of Sam's points have come from just 2 tournaments, this and Chiswick last year. She has 55 points and 37 have come from those 2 events.

I'm not neutral, but if I was, any other period, it might have been more important for Sam as 12 extra points when in the 500's is massive and would make a big difference in terms of getting into future events and you could say Jodie had done enough, (technically) matching her seeding and still picking up useful points and progressing up the ranks, but at this time of year and all the competition for WCs, this is just as big for Jodie, if not more.
