Jodie 6-3, was broken to love when serving for it at 5-1, but got it done the 2nd time. Also has an early break in the 2nd, *1-0.
Sam's potential QF opponents are still not on court yet as the match before is in the latter stages of the deciding set. I'm not sure how the weather compares to yesterday, but if play is suspended during that match and Sam already has her feet up after a comfortable win, you'd rather be in her position.
Looks like being a couple of degrees hotter today, so suspension is very likely.
Thanks, let's hope Jodie can wrap this up soon then with a nice 4-0* lead in the second as her (potential) QF opponent is already known. That aforementioned match has just finished after a tie break, so the 7th seed should be on court soon.
Jodie 6-3 6-0. Probably not quite as convincing as the scoreline suggested and a fair few DFs, but another win and more points to replace those couple of 1 counters she has. 5th seed for her next.
Similar to Maia in Korea, 2 wins her and a QF place will have Jodie close to her CH ( 272 for Jodie, 307 for Maia ) on 10/06 with further opporttunities, not just here, to push on further by 10/06.
7th seed came through in 3 sets to set up the QF with Sam. No suspended play as far as I can see. 3 seeds left in the top half, where the Brits are, but none in the bottom half.
Pleased Jodie isn't playing doubles this week, especially if she still intends to play next week. I'm sure her deep runs in both at Bolton and the Spain W60 didn't help her in singles at Sunderland and Monzon respectively the week after.
If she does win this event or get to the final (long way to go), then it might be a good idea to withdraw or just 'show her face' next week in Spain as she'll hopefully be playing 5 successive weeks from Surbiton to Wimbledon, where there's obviously more at stake for the wins.
Order of play out and Jodie follows Sam's match again, but they are starting 2 hours later tomorrow 10am (12pm local) rather than 8am UK like today. I know Yashina has generally been poor this year, but I wasn't expecting Jodie to be such an overwhelming favourite - she's 1/14 to win, Yashina is widely available at 7/1. Sam is also the favourite against her seeded opponent, but that is a lot closer. Wouldn't it be fantastic if they both won and we were guaranteed a W25 finalist?

Just saw that Jodie (and Katy) have both withdrawn today from that Spanish W25 next week. Hopefully it's nothing to do with the Japanese retirements for Katy, but can certainly understand Jodie.
I'm not sure why play is scheduled to start here today at 12 noon given the extreme heat. Seems a strange time to start in the heat of the day. Sam up first, followed by Jodie, then both Sam and EWS have their doubles SF matches.
