For such a high ranked junior, and now adult, and a clay specialist, I would not expect so many awful errors.
But, yes, I guess he was nervous, thought he had a good chance to win, and just started badly. The second set has certainly been a lot closer. Mainly because the Spaniard is playing better. (Although Jay is standing hugely far back - I really don't think he needs to so much).
That's a terrific effort from Jay. It was commented earlier that Davidovich beat Evo recently, in Portugal qualies. He also went on to reach the SF that week (an ATP250) beating Fritz, Chardy and Monfils on the way.

Jay was very much an underdog for me here. Shame he couldn't serve it out - that will be a tough one to get over.
