This is a fantastic win for Maia! When I last looked she was 1-3 down in the decider and I thought she was gone, so a lovely surprise to find that not only has she won through in the end, but did so by winning the last 5 games in a row
Just to note as well that this win will take Maia into the top 300 for the first time too, post French Open. Her current CH is 307, and she will surpass this by around 15 places or so already, with the final still to come (and indeed another tournament in Korea next week at the moment too).
Maia doing the business, and away from her safe and prosperous confines of British indoor events.
She always seemed the least regarded of her age cohorts by most in these pages; written off for one or another shortcoming. She may well be our new Jade Windley, or even more.
Very good to see. Will take Maia up to GB #9 and GB back to 9 in the top 300.
So while such as Naomi and Gabi have fallen Jodie and Maia have taken these top 9 places and not just inherited them but with both reaching new personal CHs.
And in general after that undoubted slow start to the year things have been picking up over the last month or so with much more success ar 25K level and above.
May things continue in that vain, things improve for others and may our ladies be fit and healthy. I don"t ask for much
