So, contrary to what I posted earlier, I thought a separate thread to track and predict the doubles performances would be fun!
Like in singles, only main draw wins in mens and womens doubles will count, not mixed at Wimbledon!
Obviously some of the players in the poll may partner up (Bambo and Jonny for example) but they may also play the odd event together and you just never know.
I have selected the top 9 mens doubles currently and top 9 womens, and then AN Other appears for men and women also - might Andy make a return in doubles and sweep all before him??
To remind folks, last season looked like this: the men dominated, with Heather top of the women. Neal Skupski ended up top of the crop and could well be a favourite of many this season!
Note, it is also quite possible that some of our doubles players may appear in the European events, this certainly happened last year (as opposed to singles where it appears to seldom if ever happen)
1 N. Skupski 12 2 J. Salisbury 11 3. K. Skupski 10 4 D. Inglot 9 5L. Bambridge 8 J. O'Mara 8 7 H. Watson 7 8 J. Murray 6 9 S. Clayton 4 H. Dart 4 K. Dunne 4 A. Smith 4 13 L. Broady 3 N. Broady 3 15 O. Nicholls 2 K. Edmund 2 L. Robson 2 18 J. Konta 1 K. Boulter 1 G. Taylor 1 S.B. Grey 1 T. Moore 1
Sadly Dan and Cam dont make the cut to be on this list for the poll, could they form a surprise pair during the grass season as well - AN other could prove the smart vote?!
Papers making noises Andy might play grass doubles. Jamie ruled himself out saying he wants a partner who is playing well enough to match his level of ambition.
If Andy did play, I wonder who he might partner ? Dan, if cam wasnt fit? Kyrgios? Stan w ?
"Like in singles, only main draw wins in mens and womens doubles will count, not mixed at Wimbledon! "
And went for Heather on the basis she always does really well in mixed.
(And I know we've been here before - but why???? Mixed is doubles - it's the only doubles some of us watch. But, whatever.... anyway, I'm rooting for Heather in the 'Don't-discriminate-against-mixed-people' competition, which seems quite a good slogan actually )

Why - who the heck knows! Maybe I can use mixed as a tie breaker in the event of a draw
Or maybe near wimbledon I should put up a "who will do best in mixed" poll !
