Very well done Ms. Gillan.
Third time lucky in singles finals, and a first ITF title for her. Super.

Very pleased for Alice. As people know, I've had a soft spot for her for a while - I never did a top 500 bet (would be great to be wrong) but she stood out among the crowd of similar British Tour players and it's great to see her giving it a go and having success.

Especially given the state of her ankle only a couple of months ago!

Alice was another - like Emilie Lindh - who gained a WTA ranking last year and was climbing the list incrementally until she was sharply ejected at the beginning of this year having no W25 counters. This year she has just 1 gleaned through a WC at Bolton. She is therefore still some way off regaining that WTA ranking and for her to do so she will need entry into further W25 events. That's where these T&T tournaments come in. The 100 ITF points from here will move her to about ITF rank 84 week of 27/5, whilst she is entered to play here again this coming week. This time she will be only 2nd seed as there is one WTA ranked player competing this week. However, win again and Alice would move up to the rarified ITF level just inside the top 40, which would start to give her the W25 MD entries through the ITF reserved list.
