Freya is really struggling with her serve. She won the first set 6-2, but her last 3 service games in that set were all long games, demonstrated by the fact it was a 54 minute set. Her opponent took only 1 of 8 BPs in the opening set.
The 77 minute second set was even more of a struggle, with the pivotal game being the long 8th game where Freya was broken for 3-5*. This was not helped by 4 DFs which have contributed to the 12 DFs for the match so far to her opponents 3. She only won half of her first serve points in this set. The unranked Korean fought off 2 BPs in the next game to hold for the set 3-6.
Into the third set where Freya lost just 1 point in the opening two games - a DF, her 13th DF of the match.
6-2 3-6 *2-0
Maia + meanwhile have just lost their doubles 2-6 3-6
It's taken Freya a while to get across the line, which she has now done in 3hrs . An extremely worrying performance, her opponent has no ranking whatsoever, and to get into the MD must have won a local qualifying tournament. Next up she will probably have the Korean 4th seed.
In a match lasting a minute under 3 hours, Freya wins 6-2 3-6 6-0. But the last set was still a struggle, with the Korean much more competitive after a MTO at the first sit down.
What's going on with the serve then? Lack of power, double faults, terrible serve...? In singles you can't really get away with it, in doubles you can to an extent because each player serves less.

Inconsistent and generally lacking confidence. Not so noticeable in doubles.
