Yep, avoided the 2 highest seeds, but missed out on the 2 WCs, but both will probably be happy. I haven't checked Scholsen's (8th seed) recent results, but she's often in the UK events and never seems to post outstanding results.

Mandy should be reasonably OK with that, and if she does win, she'll face an unspectacular IR in R2.

The match between those aforementioned IRs has just begun and I might have actually sold Orpana a bit short as she's had some decent results since her UK double. She's an immediate break up on Payola, who really is unspectacular, and it'll be the Finn who will be the most likely opponent for whoever wins tomorrow.
Well, I'm assuming that's Noel rather than Victoria. It wouldn't surprise me if Noel was carrying something during her match with Mandy, or at least aggravated something during the match. Victoria's time in Obidos has also been chastening, having picked up 0 points from her two singles outings.
A good first set recovery for Emily from being 0-3 and 2-4 down. Wins the last 4 games, including a mammoth 16pt 9th game on her serve, to win the set 6-4

Em served for the match at 5-3, but then lost a whole string of points to go 5-6* down. Couldn't take three break points in the last game, so it's into a third set.
Heavens, I sore the score at 5-1 and expected Em to have won by now, so was shocked when I looked again that she had let a good lead slip second set in a row. Only won 3 points collectively in the two service games where she was serving to win the match.
