It certainly does. Though even if Naiktha is ahead of Katie in the relevant Monday's rankings I still think Katie more likely to get a MD WC
I think that's right too. I think people who've been representing the UK the whole time should get priority over those at a similar level but who've just switched, for at least the first year.
I don't really agree with the reasoning but I think Katie is more likely because she is part of the LTA's squad, so to speak, has participated in Fed Cup, is younger, and Bains' dad can't have made friends with the blazers, after the comments he's made in the past.

However, good chance they'll both get one.
Agreed. I don't think for one second that Katie won't get one, but I think the thought that was going through my head was that it would be harder to overlook Naiktha then if she were higher ranked and there were wild cards available.
Excellent week for her with 2 notable wins, particularly the one yesterday against the rising Bolsova. She can now comfortably get across to Germany for WTA Nuremberg qualifying, must have been a tactical defeat...
Edit - she's actually withdrawn from Nuremberg and it wasn't automatic because Fett is in the Q draw and he's currently on court now.
