Week 20 - WTA Premier 5 ($3.45M) - Rome, Italy (Clay)

Jo no longer on today's schedule that I can make out, just the evening matches, and they'll be lucky to get played.

Play was only officially cancelled not that long ago for today.

55 matches scheduled tomorrow - some players* play twice or three times if also in the doubles (might be some w/o's there)

Jo is down to play first on court 2, the winner of the match gets a bit of rest and then back out to face Venus on Centrale a bit later on (4th match).

*Includes the Big 3 players

Back to 4-4. A huge number of BPs for both. Jo 7/9 saved, Sloane 2/4 saved. So 2 service games won and lost each so far.

Yeah, that wasn't really very good from either player.

Good to hear that Dan Smethurst is working JoKo's corner - he's got his work cut out, though.
Mind you, Sloane's coach must be tearing his hair out half the time too .....

4 of the 6 matches (hopefully Jo can make it 5) have gone into a decider and that's not ideal when you have another match later. The likes of Barty, Vika, Venus and Ka Pliskova will be rubbing their hands.

Jo was *3-2 in the second set, but now *3-4.

Wow!
Yes, Sloane can be flaky, but she'll still be one of the 3 or 4 top favourites for the Roland Garros title.
And, the courts in Rome are very similar to the terre battue in Paris.

And this is a Brit fighting her out through at least 2 tight sets!

Draw really opened up. Just has to beat Stephens, Venus, Halep and Osaka to get to final now!

I don't think that's going to happen  somehow or other. Before we go any further  Sloane Stephens is after all the runner up in Paris  in 2018 and could easily have been champion.,

Whoosh
