2019 Grass Court Season Entry Lists

Katie B has posted that she's not going to be able to make Nottingham. With Heather in Manchester, and as far as I know, no Top 20 WC yet, I wonder who the MDWCs will go to? Should be 3 unless a Stosur requests one like last year.

Naiktha will probably be one. With none of our ranked women withdrawing from Manchester so far this week it's head scratching as to who the others would be. Eden probably has a QWC and I read Freya was looking to play here with it being her local tourney. It's also Millie Rajecki's local and I noticed she withdrew from Manchester this week, so could there be something to be read into that?

Given Vic Allen got a QWC to Surbiton, and Amelia Rajecki won the Tier 1 BT event, is a junior, and has had various LTA wildcards this year and last, I am certainly expecting her to get one in one of our events. So Notts makes sense.

Not sure where the best place to post this is, but this thread is appropriate anyway.
People always ask when draws are going to be made - I saw this on twitter, but can't verify it.

Wimbledon draws
Mens qualies: June 23 at 18:00
Womens qualies: June 24 at 16:00
Main draw: June 28 at 10:00
Doubles: June 28 at 12:00
Mixed-doubles: July 3 at 14:00
Juniors singles: July 4 at 19:00
Juniors doubles: July 6 at 16:00
Wheelchairs singles/doubles: July 9 at 10:30

Thanks Addict - timing makes sense as the Ilkley finals will be complete and they can see who has earnt a WC from that event before the qualies draw.

Muguruza out of Birmingham. I think that moves Jo to alt#1.
Venus has a WC.

Saw that about Venus - there were rumours Serena may ask for something in this grass season, any further news spotted on that?

I think Serena has now said she won't play a warm up.

Jay has MDWC for Queens

Would be interesting if Kyle and Ken draw Jamie and Neal. Or Andy and Feliciano draw Jamie and Neal! Or Bruno and Pavic play Jamie and Neal! Any combo will do!

Given  the number of pairs that will be in and add in Joe + and Dom + and there are bound to be some interesting match ups arising at Queens

I'm off to Queens next Mon/Tues so I look forward to it! Next year I think I will try one of the other smaller UK tournaments.

Enjoy, the grass at Queens always seems faster and lusher to me than Wimbledon, real grass court tennis as opposed to pseudo hard court.

My early memories of Queens are from the 80s and finals such as McEnroe v leif Shiras ( a Hollywood actor who played tennis) , Becker v Kriek and Tim Mayotte winning it as well. Great event despite what someone on here said recently about snobbishness

And Victor Pecci who reached the final in 79! I recall Paraguay played Czechoslovakia as it was in a DC tie in Ascuncion. Lendl and Smid played for Czech against Pecci and Francisco Gonzalex for paraguay. The ITF Davis Cup site describes it as carpet court but it was wood, lightening quick. Pecci and Gonzalez took it to them in front of a frantic crowd, baying for blood, imagine Lendl in that, and the paraguay team won 3-2 with Smid unable to compete. remember Smid won doubles grand slams,a top doubles player with Fibak, Slozil, Fitzgerald, gunthardt and he knew how to play on fast courts having reached Wimbledon quarters.

Pecci was one of the first non English speaking countries guys to do well at queens and was a hero in 79
