Strange, considering she just dropped 2 games yesterday, maybe she picked up a virus or something. But as a 2/1 underdog, Katie will definitely take that and an easy passage through to the QF, especially with Monzon points coming off.
Let's just hope live scores have the correct player this time after the Eden stuff yesterday.
Well it's definitely Daria and it sounds like it could potentially be a nasty injury, so hopefully she gets back as quickly as possible as she looks a talent with huge potential. It's 26 year old Brazilian Gabriela Ce up next in the QF, who may currently be 442 in the world, but she is a clay court specialist and reached the final here last week (hence her SE this week), so shouldn't be underestimated.
Top seed Elina Rybakina, who has been in great form this year, lost earlier so this could be a good opportunity for Katie.
Edit - final in Pula last week, not Rome.

Wow, seems strange, before, after or during when she was playing yesterday and only conceding two games?? And what kind of injury any idea?

I saw a report translated from Ukrainian which said "breaking of the meniscus "

I guess you could say she was quite fortunate to gain 9 points for winning one match against a WC outside the top 500, which can replace the Eastbourne 1 counter, as she could have faced the likes of Ce or Lopatetska in the 1st round.
The 50 points for winning Monzon last year should still be on her record by the time the Surbiton entry lists comes out, so hopefully she gets into that event without the need of a MDWC and that can go elsewhere, but she'll need to start picking up bigger points soon or she will start tumbling down the rankings.
The pre-match odds were 5/6 vs 5/6 despite the difference in ranking, so it's not a shock in that respect, but a closer scoreline would have been more encouraging.

Well, .. gotta applaud the GB women for playing on the clay, there's only one way to learn, and that's by doing. If they want to reach the pinnacle of the sport, then they have to be able to play on all surfaces. Clay is difficult, I remember Andy Murray himself being given the run-around by Fognini in the Davis Cup.
