Thought that was the interest* in Monzon over, but forgot about Emily and she is a double break up on her seeded opponent. *4-1. Stojanovic has just got on the board.

*singles anyway...

I take it you're not a great doubles fan Ace! biggrin

Ha, if they get to the final and I see that trophy emoji then I'll give a little smile, but other than that, limited. I will jump on the bandwagon if a singles player has a good dubs run at Wimbledon, like Harriet (and Jay) last year biggrin.

Emily was actually 4-0* up. She ended up serving for the set at *5-4, got broken and is now 15-40 (2 set points) down in her next service game but there seems to be a rain delay.

Emily saved those 2 SPs and took it to a TB. Sadly, she couldn't convert a 5-2 lead in the TB and lost the set 6-7(5)

She gave a better account of herself than I was expecting pre-match, but ultimately not enough. So back to back weeks in Singapore where she will be a W25 IR twice. A few decent seeds and a couple of other good players, but they are generally very weak for W25 level, so it would be good if she could finally get something going above the W15 level before the grass season. Probably draw Savinykh R1 both times...

Appears as if it will leave Emily well clear as most WTA points purely made up of single point counters.

She will be on 13 from 13. Next 2 in the current rankings appear to be 10 from 10 and 8 from 8.

An odd collection of results here, but the result is still that no-one goes through. That Emily App had the closest score and should have won a set is not what one would have predicted beforehand. Jodie's result the most surprising for sure, and hope just an off day.

R1: Emily APPLETON (GBR) [IR] 735/30 lost to Nina Stojanovic (SRB) [3] 251 6-7(5) 2-6
R1: Gabriella TAYLOR (GBR) 302 lost to Cristina BUCSA (ESP) 5 255 (=CH) 2-4 retired
R1: Jodie BURRAGE (GBR) 272 lost to Despina PAPAMICHAIL (GRE) [Q] 2-6 4-6

Jodie's result is a bit odd, Despina has been around for a while, present ranking of 482 but even her CH from 5 years a go of 317 is below Jodie's present ranking.

Revenge for Liv who lost to Jessica (albeit both with different partners) in straight sets in last week's dubs final in France.
