Three more points, and Mariam calls it a day. She missed her first serve on all three points. I suspect she may have had to go back to the clubhouse for strapping, given the length of the delay.
Busy day for Em. Semi-final at 2pm or shortly after if Sanchez and Radwanska go on for much longer, and it's looking like going to a deciding set, then rest before doubles.
The bonus 9 pts from this match, now mean that her 18 pts haul this week is equal to nearly half of her existing total points tally. Next week Emily will be WR 532 but these 18 points so far will lift her all the way back to about WR 473, 1pt behind Lissey, and ahead of Tara Moore (who drops 33 places next week).

Real shame for Bolkvadze, because as Michael says, she's progressed really well since the back end of last year and is circa 120 in the Race. Hope it's not too bad with the grass season in mind as that's her favourite surface.
But, however it comes, that's good news for EWS. At her age, she's probably not going to be that high up in the WC pecking order over the summer, so with her boosting her ranking into the 400's (and maybe even more), then that's going to bode well for getting into the likes of Manchester and maybe Ilkley qualifiers. The points will come too soon for Surbiton though, so will be relying on a QWC there.
These points cover Wuhan SF from last year which come off in a couple of weeks. If she hadn't had this fortune this week with two retirements against seeds she would be close to dropping into the 600s so very well timed.
I like Bolkvadaze a lot so hope she ok, I had wondered if it was her who retired from the doubles match late last night.
These 18 points will effectively replace the 19 points from Wuhan last year that drop off the following week so she'll only enjoy 1 week in the 400s - unless of course, she can repeat the same feat next week, or defy the odds and win again today.
Yes, I hadn't checked to see what further points Emily was about to lose, as both PaulM and RS have pointed out... That CH of Radwanska is higher than I thought.
SF: WEBLEY-SMITH, Emily (GBR) 524 vs Urszula RADWANSKA (POL) [4] 301 (CH:29 Oct 12)
