Mandy's second couter - (thanks Indie) - first comes off in Sept. So she will probably will have to play a mix of 25ks and 15ks for the rest of the year to keep her ITF ranking up.
Amanda's first major ITF counter doesn't drop off until December. I would be surprised if Amanda isn't WTA top 600 by then and was in a position where she had a need to defend her ITF points. But, even then, as she'll have a WTA ranking, the ITF ranking would be irrelevant except for the purpose of obtaining the reserved main draw spots as the WTA ranking would be used for entry to 15s. For now, if she wants to avoid 25k qualifying and get directly into main draws via the reserved places then she probably needs 1 or 2 more good 15Ks to move her ITF ranking up a bit so it's her choice which reserved places to have, rather than what's left which she will get at the moment, and then she can forget about 15s for good. If she's happy to build up her WTA ranking the traditional way by qualifying for 25K main draws, then, once she has that WTA ranking, she need not trouble herself about an ITF ranking.
Nice to see her get a win. Haven't looked at their credentials, but it'll definitely be a MDWC up next for her in the last 16. Ka is one of the potential opponents and I'm sure she has beaten one of our players recently, might have even been EWS.
Edit - it is WC Andrea Ka who beat the local WC 5-0 RET. Just had a quick look and Ka did beat EWS in Portugal qualifying last month, 6-3 6-1, so hopefully Emily can get a bit revenge here.
