Kyle did play extremely well here last year, dispatching Medvedev, Djokovic and Goffin before losing to Shapovalov in the QF, the conditions in high altitude Madrid seeming to suit him.
But his general form is looking not too good just now.
Tough draw but may the venue and opposition bring back some much better form.

Let's hope. He'll certainly need a good performance to win this as an opener.
It was discussed in the Entries thread for this week. Dan just missed out on qualies. Cam just out on the main draw, but not entered in qualies.
Cam's not entered in qualies for Rome either. Not clear if he is a main draw alt but quite a bit out still if he is. I recall him choosing not to be on qualies lists a few times last year too. Not sure about the logic.

Dan is currently 7th qualifying alt for Rome.
Ah cheers. Diidnt catch the discussion elsewhere. Wonder if Cam is a bit injured (since he withdrew from Estoril) but yes, could just be a decision to either be in the main draw or not play. And I guess if you're gonna miss one, Madrid is the one because of the altitude; Rome is better prep for RG.
