Just Koolhof & Tsitsipas's 3rd event together this year. In the second they reached the Miami Masters final, losing to the Bryans, and beat Jamie & Bruno in a MTB at the L16 stage.
Here they beat in form (5) Mektic & Skugor 6-2 6-4 to reach this stage.
Clearly rather useful together.
Mark my words, one of the Dutch players - koolhof, haase, middelkoop- will get to a slam final in doubles this year.

(2) Kubot & Melo and (6) Marach & Pavic have lost their QF matches to Pella & Sousa and Schwartzman & Thiem respectively, leaving Jamie & Bruno as the only remaining seeds.
Their QF comes later today ( Tsitsipas is currently a set and a break up on Verdasco in his L16 singles match ).
The only thing that counts in doubles is 2nd set . Win that and youre in the crap shoot mtb. Losing first set on ATP tour has no impact really on final outcome. May as well toss a coin and get straight to 2nd set !
I know its not quite that simple but...

This doesn't really make sense. Both the first 2 sets matter equally...doesnt matter which one you win you have an even chance in the MTB. You can't avoid the MTB without winning the first set.

He won Brisbane with Marcus Daniel Won Miami with Tsitsipas Reached Monte Carlo final with Haase RU Budapest with Daniel again And now in Madrid SF's with Tsitsipas again
Hes not in top 8 pairings in Race as he has swapped around a lot although he will go top 8 with Tsitsipas if he wins the SF at Madrid. That will also make Tsitsipas top 8 in singles and doubles race's a bit like Jack Sock a couple of years back for a while.
Koolhof is the form doubles player for sure
