Quite fortunate having Melnikova (just returning from a lay off, withdrew from Sunderland) as the seed in her section and thus ultimately ended up playing a lowly ranked qualifier, but she's obviously had a tough time, particularly towards the back end of last year, so it's great to see her stringing wins together now and picking up some really valuable points. Plays the 4th seed Stojanovic next who played in both recent GB events.
The ITF scoreboard has frozen for me on this match, but I think I saw the players leave the court just before Katy's match finished, so I'm going to post this anyway, and will correct it later if necessary
The doubles are underway too... and I think we have our first QF winners, but really annoyingly live scores have gone off line in what I hope is the final service game...
Yes, wonderful results to see! In particular pleased to see Olivia back on a winning trail, but of course all the others too!
Very unusually none of the SFs are seeded, and in fact only one of the QFs was.
Start delayed due to rain. Accuweather helpfully says rain will continue for another 56 mins. High chance of precipitation/showers forecast for the rest of the day.
Looking at that OOP of the day, there are five different Brits involved 6 times in 4 singles QFs and 2 doubles SFs in a Spanish W60 - that's more than we were managing in British based W25s a few weeks ago!

Yes-remarkable. I think the key to this is that there is a German 60 on this week as well. Many good Europeans chose to play there on clay. The Brits sensibly chose their better surface so went to Spain instead.
