Week 18 - ATP 250 - BMW Open by FWU, Munich, Germany (clay)

Kyle turns up in Munich this year rather than Estoril.

L28: (5) Kyle Edmund WR 23 (CH = 14 last year) vs Denis Kudla (USA) WR 82 (CH= 53 in 2016)

No head to head.

Edit:  just adding his seeding.  wink

Thanks sc - on my phone where the seeding didn't come up (unless you go to desktop view of the atp webpage and then it came up).

Top 2 seeds are Sascha Zverev and Karen Khachanov; two players woefully out of form. Perhaps playing in front of a home crowd might help Zverev kick start his year....

Dom has ATP 250 Istanbul title points ( in partnership with Robert Lindstedt ) coming off next Monday, second title in a row points to come off.

He has currently dropped to live ranked #31 on 2505 points, just ahead of Neil Skupski, #32 on 2500 points.

I realise it is November before it will become relevant, but what doubles pair would you select for DC right now? Lots of good doubles players, but Dom is probably not in form to deserve a place; Jamie and Joe? Neal and Ken? Kyle and Neal might be an interesting one given they are playing together on occasion?

I think the DC teams are 5 players arent they so assuming Andy is out of the picture right now (who knows come November) and thus Kyle, Cam and Dan all get picked, then selecting jamie might not fit, whereas Neal and Ken, so that we have the option of Kyle/Neal and Ken/Neal might work or, failing that, Jamie and Joe, with option for Kyle and Cam of course as well...

I think at the moment I'd go for Jamie & Joe. I can't though recall them playing together in the past and it's far from clear how good a fit they would be together.

Definitely other potential options as you point to.

So I'd say places up for grabs.

Does anyone know if the DC finals in Madrid are on clay or hardcourt? The ATP Cup in January will be on hard obviously. I presumed clay for Madrid?

Kyle struggling still. 4-6 and 0-1 down having been broken in first service game in both sets. Kudla passing him at will at the moment.
