To be fair, tennis abstract rate jo as 3rd most likely winner in Rabat, behind mertens and martic

I would have thought it more realistic to have Jo as the 3rd least likely winner in Rabat. Anyhow I have my money on Yafan Wang to beat Jo in the 1st round. I am a Johanna Konta fan but one must be a realist.

Dart and Konta are playing now for those interested. There is a stream and it's 1-2*

They lost the first set 5-7, but are 5-0* up in the 2nd, so should be heading into a MTB.

I do hope they get this - for Harriets sake mainly. Massive doubles prep for Fed Cup (I assume) but no opportunity to play.

Looked good in winning it to.
Nice little 60 points for a first round win, which will help both their rankings (as discussed in another thread)

The winner of Jo vs Y Wang will play Bogdan in R2 after the Romanian put out the much higher ranked Cornet earlier.

Because of the mantra (Jeremy Bates)that you always play your best singles player in the deciding doubles rubber of a Fed Cup tie  then  Harriet was not going to play unless something happened to Jo. However it does not follow that your best singles player is your best doubles player. As I said before Japan beat GB in the deciding doubles last year without recognized singles players and didn't require the services of Naomi Osaka.

Three breaks each so far. Jo has just held her serve for the first time.

4-4*
