Entries Week 19 - 06/05/19

I saw that too, Red, and was about to ask the same question ! Unless it's just a stopover on the way from Rabat, of course.

Maia and Freya have pulled out of Obidos main draw and qualifying respectively.

Lindh and Fischer have done exactly the same in Cancun W15

That's really disappointing, but the plus side is that Mandy is now 3rd alt, so once WCs are awarded she must stand a good chance of getting in?

She's effectively next to benefit from a withdrawal or somebody above her getting a WC, as the last two spots in the main draw will always be filled by two players in the qualifying list, and whose spots will be in turn be filled by the first two alts. There are three Portuguese above her, so I would have thought at least one of them would get a WC.

Yes, I hope she turns up because I'm sure she will play now, even if it is not officially confirmed in advance. Will be good to see her back at W25 level

For reference of some of those in Madrid, those with booked practice sessions today are J Murray, Edmund, Evans, Inglot and Salisbury

Top seed in qualifying is Herbert WR 43 according to the draw. Last DA is WR97. I think Dan made it that high by the cut-off date, so maybe opted out.

The qualifying draw sheet is wrongly showing Andreozzi's current WR 97 as his last direct acceptance ranking. It should show his 15/04/19 ranking of 84. Denis Kudka is now last in as an alt with an entry ranking of 85.

Entry rankings are as list on menstennisforums. Dan was ranked 89 at the time and just beyond the alt list shown.

I meant Andreozzi's "current WR 97" rather than 87 but anyway yes his current ranking is irrelevant.

Also Cam Norrie hasn't made the Madrid main draw ( Klizan and Herbert are in qualifying and were higher main draw alts ) and he never was on the qualifying list.

James ward is in the aix en provence draw, plays lamasine and then possibly mager, not too bad in what is always a high quality event.
