Just found this random video on Twitter from a couple of years ago after she was on USTA U16 nationals, and Konta is one of the few congratulating her. Perhaps Angelica knows Jo from when she has been in England, and perhaps met at the NTC or something.

Yes, welcome Danny. Do you have any info on why she chose to represent GB? She's certainly making a big impression in Nottingham this week, just dropping the 9 games in her 3 matches thus far.

Noticed that as well TA, although she obviously doesn't update it much as the last post is 2017. I see her brother has an England football top on, so the family clearly does have a connection to these parts. Definitely looks like one to keep an eye on, although going the college route will make it harder from our perspective.

Hello Ace , thank you. I know Angelica has been in England all through the summer so far and picked up an injury that prevented her from competing in any grass court events. In fact its quite impressive that shes doing so well in Nottingham because she was so focused on academic achievement this year and hasnt played many tournaments.

Im not sure about why she made that choice because going to Stanford I guess her time in the UK will be restricted so I imagine shes taking a long term view.

But shes always been very talented and a good competitor .

Emily Arb has of course thrived extremely well at Stanford, having done extremely well academically too.

Just looked at the Chiswick 25k results and it seems like Angelica as a 25k rookie did a better job against the very experienced Greta Ahn than either the # 5 or #3 seeds did. Coming on the back of the Woking R16 loss to the number 1 seed ( after a good first round win ) and eventual winner she for sure didnt have the best of draws but it looks as though she acquitted herself pretty well. Shame she couldnt quite pick up the 10 points she needed.

Hopefully she can find a way into a 15k or two somewhere even if through qualifying so that she has a chance to pick up those extra 4 points before starting at Stanford . If not, its not the end of the world. Usually the higher rated college teams take some of their players to play 1 or 2 ITF events during the year.

Yeah, an encouraging couple of weeks for her and definitely one to follow the progress of as and when she next plays. I've kind of been following the USTA U18 Nationals this week to see who will get the MDWC into the US Open, and Angelica won the U16 version a couple of years ago, to receive a QWC into the US Open in 2017.

Some of those aren't too familiar, but a few stand out like Davis, Osuigwe and Day even though she hasn't really transitioned to the pro scene too well. The U18 winners are generally a lot more known with the likes of Kenin, Bellis, Rogers as well as the 3 selected above among the winners.

looks like Angelica has got off to a good start at Stanford and good to see her and Emily win a tournament together. Maybe a good doubles team moving forward !

An update on Angelicas Stanford results as a first year freshman up until the time the season was ended prematurely.

Singles- played mostly either number 3 or number 2 position in the 6 player team. Won 14 lost 2 . The first of the 2 matches she lost were 4-5 down , retired through illness and then a heavy 6-2 6-1 defeat in February against a highly ranked senior from UCLA , a result that Angelica avenged convincingly a month later with a 6-0 6-4 win against the same player. She will start her second year with a solid singles ranking.

In doubles won 12 lost 4 partnering Emily Arbuthnott in Emilys final year. A pity they didnt get to finish the season together.

Thanks for the update, Danny. I saw that match at Chiswick last year against Greta Ahn, and was hoping Angelica would play again this year. Emily was also playing that day. Looking pretty doubtful if there will be a tournament though !

Its been a long time since posting any updates about Angelica. She is having a great season at Stanford so far, presently number 20 ranked in college tennis which is hard to achieve playing position 3 in the line up because you only get meaningful rankings points by beating other ranked players and sometimes you play matches at #3 and not as many ranked players as those playing 1 or 2. Yet Angelica has a higher ranking than Stanfords present #1.

The whole video is interesting but the parts about Angelica are between 30 and 34 minutes in.

Hmmm.... Stanford 125K have changed Angelica's nationality to USA on their player list. They were showing her as GBR earlier in the week. Hopefully she's not decided to change her nationality back to the US. Still GBR on ITF and WTA.
