Angelica Blake

Stolen from tennisforum, but looks like 18 year old American born Angelica Blake has switched allegiances to Great Britain:

https://www.itftennis.com/juniors/players/player/profile.aspx?playerid=100275544

https://www.tennisrecruiting.net/player.asp?id=770065

Looks like she is at Stanford and is also way down a US ITF W15 alt list in a couple of weeks:

https://www.itftennis.com/procircuit/tournaments/women's-tournament/info.aspx?tournamentid=1100045105

Anyone heard of her or know much about her?

Bit more info there. Looks like she moved to England when she was 5 for 3 years, so probably has a British parent I'd imagine as it usually has to be 5 years to do a Bedene, doesn't it?

There are two Angelica Blake's listed with the LTA - both the same age and from Middlesex - no activity, and almost certainly the same person- perhaps that is her.

She's entered for BT Connaught at the end of May.

And North Oxford

It's a lovely coastal city, on the gulf coast side, maybe 100 miles , 120 from miami, maybe 3 hours up to Orlando. V wealthy population, we've been on holiday there many times when kids where young although its 9 years since we last went. Cant wait !

Sounds great Jon and it'll be interesting if much has changed since.

The Sanchez- casal academy has been there perhaps 20 years now, and hosts futures level events quite often, and I think a challenger in the past. Naples also hosts an end of season pga tour event, a pairs event, with big peizemoney and most of the top us golfers playing. I recall reading it has more fortune 500 executives living there than any other place but that could be wrong.

That is my summer holiday , only holiday, this year - sadly for me my wife and son are having a bonding break in New York in early July for a week, I'm not invited as someone has to pay for it ! Ha. And look after the dog. Suspect that will be all holidays done and dusted for a while as mr HMRC will need paying and tends not to take no for an answer!

Angelica Blake Boca Raton, Fla.

Quick Profile: Ranked No. 7 by Tennis Recruiting placed third at 2018 National Clay Court Championships 18s
2017 National Hardcourts singles and doubles champion earned main draw wild card into 2017 U.S. Open Junior Championships
2016 Winter Nationals 16s singles champion, resulting in a No. 2 national ranking to begin 2017
2016 Easter Bowl 16s singles champion while also producing a runner-up finish in doubles
while in eighth grade, played No. 1 singles and doubles on the American Heritage School varsity tennis team, leading team to state title trained at Saviano High Performance Academy born in Abington, Pennsylvania moved to England when she was five and lived there for three years.

Why Stanford?:

"Stanford is a place that will help me thrive both on and off the court. I'm very thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful student body, and develop as a player with
Coach Lele and Coach Frankie. Getting the chance to compete with such great teammates will be an amazing experience."

Off the Court: "I enjoy playing piano, spending time with friends, dancing, singing and even playing soccer. I've always enjoyed having other hobbies because it has taught me to be open
to trying new things. I volunteered at an autism foundation that taught autistic children how to play tennis, which was a very humbling experience."

Team First Values:

"I've always loved competing in a team atmosphere because you are playing for something greater than an individual title.
Being that tennis is primarily an individual sport, I've always enjoyed participating in team events.
From national team tournaments to Florida team tournaments to varsity tennis, it has always been extra motivating to play for the people who support me.
Having the opportunity to play at Stanford is very exciting, and I can't wait to grow and learn from my teammates."

Your memory is failing you, as you posted on the Naples, FL thread last year.

Anyway, back to Angelica

"Half of my family is from the UK, and I have childhood friends I still go back and visit," she said. "I even had a British accent at some point, which is kind of funny."

As I never tire of telling my American friends/ family - we Brits don't have an accent. We just don't have an American one.

Brits have all sorts of accents, Derry girls needs sub-tittles or at least recording so you can rewind some of the gags.

Stanford have a big senior class leaving and undoubtedly will recruit well particular as Micheala Gordon has done so well as an indigenous top prospect even so as things standard next year Emily would still be playing only no 2 in her senior year.
