Girls: J4 Nottingham, hard (Week 17)

Morgan Cross, Charlotte Russell, Hannah Smith and Andrea Pineda are among the top 8 ranked acceptances for the first of two weeks in Nottingham. Main draw should be up later this evening at https://www.itftennis.com/juniors/tournaments/tournament/info.aspx?tournamentid=1100044602

Esther Adeshina is also here, as one of the top players (although not top ranked at the moment)

For those who like to watch out for the arrival of the 'new' cohorts, it's good to see some 2005-ers here. Millie Skelton, Jaquelyn Ogunwale, Nora Khediri, Eva Shaw, Ranah Stoiber are five names I recognise, but there may be well be several others in there too

Eva starts with a double bagel win.

Interesting 1st round between Hannah Smith and Esther. Quite cruel as both could easily be in the latter stages.

Esther ran away with it 2 & 0  Two wildcards (Millie Mae Matthews and Isabelle Eaton) put out low seeds

I am not a huge cheerleader for her but Esther is SO under-ranked it is daft.

She would be playing adults now, if she hadn't been injured, not a G4 juniors against kids born in 2004.

A few of the 2005-ers got very nice wins.

Being a 64 draw, they don't count in terms of points, but all good.

She's been out injured for a while so probably building slowly back up.

Probably trying to get her ranking as high as possible to play junior Wimbledon too.

Carnage amongst the seeds, headlined by Amy Leather beating the Belgian top seed 2 & 3. Top ranked 2005 (TE) Ranah Stoiber put out the seeded Andrea Pineda, while the third seed Charlotte Russell lost out in the battle of the Charlottes . Esther had a much tougher match, winning through 6-4 in the third against Kristina Paskauskas

In terms of the 2005-ers, the recent LTA team are doing very well.

Eve Shaw and Rainah Stoiber are both through to the last 16. As is a wildcard youngster called Ella McDonald whom I've never heard of.

A couple of 2004-ers too: Sarah Tatu and Sofia Johnson.

With 13 out of the last 16 being British, this is a great chance for those left to pick up big points.

Surprised by Andrea's loss but Ranah must be another one to watch then.

Not surprised at all - I tipped Andrea last week in another thread - so the jinx was in.

Ranah beat Tanysha very comfortably, so she must be good. Morgan beat Amelia
