I think qualifying has to be completed when the main draw is made for a qualifier to be seeded in the main draw. Given there are still two matches to be played and the main draw has to be made by 7pm (which passed almost an hour ago) I don't think Rus will be seeded.

Although Zimmermann is 2nd seed and Rus 1st seed, so perhaps not.

Yes, I agree with RS, that's very unusual where they have only placed Rus so far of the qualifiers, as the top seed. Usually all the qualifiers are placed or none, even if that leaves someone who would have been a seed out of the seedings. However, I think most players will be happy at that!
In the MD itself, Gabi plays an IR entry player (Victoria Kan), and Naiktha will play a qualifier, who she will be relieved cannot be Rus, but could be Fran.

For a split second I thought Naiktha and Gabi were drawn against each other, forgetting both were seeded. Another (let's be honest, pretty pointless) WC for Compson - a QWC would have been far better, but she plays the 5th seed. Naiktha has a Q as Michael says, but if she comes through that, she then plays the winner of a Q vs Q match, so maybe a chance she might meet Fran sometime.
Gabi gets another banana skin - Kan had a trajecory set to quickly transition into a top 100 player on the back of a good junior record.
Injury & illness laid her low for four years, but she's just started to tick back up again.
Just been doing a bit of digging on Chloe Compson as it is a bit random all these Italy 25k MDWCs - she's played 4 matches in Italy these past 7 months and won 3 games combined. Anyway, she's 17 from Glasgow and is involved in modelling. She or her family must surely have links with Pula.
Wish they were handing out MDWCs for fun to the likes of Emma, Vic or either Holly.

Yes, you're right, Kan beat Arantxa Rus, the top seed, in straight sets here just a few weeks back. Oh dear, that's not what Gabi will have been expecting first up as the 6th seed

And ridiculously this is going to give her a totally undeserved WTA ranking in two weeks owing to this being her 3rd W25 WC here in 6 months

Hmm, that will be Chloe ranked on 06/05 and a week later, as things stand, Laura will be down to 9 points from 2 counters this year ( a 60K QR1 win and a 25K Q + MD R1 win ) and lose her WTA ranking.
Was just having a quick look at the odds and it looks like more than a banana skin for Gabi as the opponent is the 1/2 favourite to win. Without SQs input I'd be thinking what's going on there, but perfectly normal now, especially after beating Rus the other week.
Bains 8/13 vs Fran 6/5
Oh and Benoit a very slight 1/1000 favourite to beat Chloe...
Within the last hour or so, some money must have gone on Kan, because the odds have changed from 1/2 vs 6/4 to 4/11 vs 2/1 - that's quite a significant change. Obviously doesn't mean she's going to lose, but that's pretty tough for Gabi, being a seed and being a clear 2/1 underdog in her R1 match.
Naiktha-Fran is 3rd on Court 4 which starts at 1pm, so we're probably looking at around 5pm for that, weather permitting, and that match is being streamed. Gabi and Chloe's matches are not.
Lou Brouleau, a familiar name on here in recent weeks, has continued her very good recent form by winning 6-2 6-1, so that means the all-British match between Fran and Bains should be starting soon.
Important match for both, but I think I'd like Naiktha to win this. Coincidentally, the winner actually plays Brouleau in the 2nd round.
