Week 16 - ITF (W15) Guayaquil, Ecuador Clay

R1: ROBINSON, Alicia (GBR) UNR/UNR v SENKA, Valery (CAN) UNR/UNR

Alicia was in the qualifying acceptances but it doesn't seem that a qualifying tournament took place so she got promoted to the main draw.

What Alicia wins 6-0 6-0 and then concedes a walkover? That sounds really strange confuse I was going to enquire who Alicia is, all I saw was that she is born 2003 so is 15/16. She gets 4 ITF points anyway.

Born 1993, not 2003.
Otherwise, she'd have been 6 when she played her match in 2009!

This was her first main draw win, at 26.

Oh yes, you're right SQ. Even bigger surprise that she would then withdraw afterwards... Unless the shock of winning was too great... or she already had her plane ticket... but strange.

She is down for Colombia next week.

Done some research, but those with knowledge of US college tennis may know more.

She is from Falkirk, once coached by Judy Murray for 5 years. Scotlands #1 U18 in 2012. Went to the US College in 2012/13 to Coastal Carolina. Transferred to Baylor University for 2013/14 and again to South Florida in 2014/15. After a number of injuries and surgeries Indiana gave her a chance to play again in 2016/17 where she was a Senior studying Law. She continued studying Law transferring to University of Miami in summer of 2017, where she currently is.

I'm pretty sure she was involved in a major bust up at one of the colleges, involving a confrontation in the dorms and allegations of bullying, and little or no support from the coaches. It was documented at the time on the tennisforum website, but I can't find it now
