Week 16 - ATP Masters 1000 - Monte-Carlo, Monaco (clay)

Sonego was indeed the pre-match favourite, a 1/2 favourite. Great week for Cam, but I doubt there'll be too many times in the coming years when he is a qualifier away from a QF place at a Masters 1000. Still, should be up to a new career high now and will give him a better platform for the rest of the year.

Probably the best chance to get to a Masters QF, however when you consider he has only played on clay for a year and Sonego was the favourite then its not as bad.

Cam looking more and more likely to be GB number 1 by year end and good chance by Wimbledon if he stays at this level. I wonder if anyone had him at number 1 in the predictor......

Zverev and Thiem flake out at the L16 stage to Fognini and Lajovic respectively

As well documented Lajovic was Kyle's original draw opponent but who knows how Kyle would have done there.

Zverev is having a dreadful season, outside the top 20 in the race. Always liked Fognini, he could end up at career high ranking depending on his run.

Cam is up to live ranked #13 under 25 yo on 1005 points with Kyle remaining #7 on 1575 points.

Cam's conqueror Sonego ( like Cam 23 yo ) could theoretically yet overtake both this week.

As said, Kyle has certainly got a fair deal more points due off than Cam in the next couple of months but how many will each add ...

Not entirely sure what Lendl has brought to Zverev's game...Fognini hasn't had the best year to date either, currently sporting a 4-8 W/L record in 2019.

Precisely no-one.

4 folk have Cam as their predicted GB #2. 3 with him behind Kyle and yourself with him behind Andy.

Did I pick Andy for number 1? In my head I had Cam as 1. Still think Im the only one to put him ahead of Kyle though. No?

Fabulous racket smashing meltdown from JD as he loses his serve to go down 5-6 in the first set.  Jay serves fo rthe first set

Indeed you have 1 Andy, 2 Cam, 3 Kyle and are apparently the only one to have Cam ahead of Kyle.

I think I must have only chose Andy in hope rather than expectancy as I think he will be announcing his retirement before Wimbledon would be my guess.
