Good job Cam and a nice 3rd round draw too.

Super stuff from Cam and a decent opportunity to go further yet.

Draws can open up but then you still need to step up and take advantage.

For now he has moved to over 1000 ranking points, live ranked 43 on 1005 points. Live race #27.

Fritz beat Schwartzman 6-4 6-2.

Another day of course, and Fritz may have played extremely well, but not a great advert for Schwartzman's current form fresh from his win over Kyle.

Anyway, hope Kyle can pick up in the coming weeks from a match that ran away from him in the final set

Yes, very well done Cam. Watched quite a bit of it and put £2 on when he was well behind in 1st set. So thanks Cam

Is it beyond the realms that he could be seeded for the French and/or Wimbledon?

If he wins his next round, he's up to 1095(?) points with WR38. With another good tournament or two and a few injuries (Monfils and Gasquet currently out) then he has a shot.

I haven't checked his points coming off so feel free to tell me I'm wrong! :)

He is due just 10 points off over next 5 weeks so a good run or two could work.

Kyle is actually due 270 points off over next 5 weeks and this could push him down to at least 28 and possibly lower. He probably wont miss a seeding but could do with a good week or two on the clay.

Looking like a step too far for Cam. 2-6 *1-3.

Hmmm. Could still do it I suppose..... but hasn't yet broken him I don't think, so a bit of a tall order.

But indeed breaks at a rather good time, 4-5*

Right back in it at 2-6 *5-5

But will now need to break again. Broken for 5-6*

Don't like posting when watching on AP because it's a fair bit behind and Sonego could well have already won by the time I'm writing this, but that break did come from pretty much out of nowhere and Sonego looked so comfortable on serve.

He'll have to do it again though 5-6*, unless of course the match is already over...

The Italian qualifier saw off Khachanov (8) by 7-6(4) 6-4 yesterday...

For the record:

L16:  (Q) Lorenzo Sonego (ITA) WR 96 defeated Cameron Norrie WR 56 by 2 & 5  cry

In his interview with The Times today, Cam was quite philosophical:

I have seen this guy play and compete.  He's really tough.  I'm going to have to expect the worst.  He's obviously extremely confident after the win against Khachanov.  It's a huge one on the clay.  He's almost more of the favourite.
