Week 15 - ITF (W25) - Sunderland, GB - Hard Indoor

Hmmm, Laura has taken out Lissey 6-1 in their first set in just 27 mins. More one sided than I expected.

Could it have been a late decision Ie.that Emma was down for a MD WC when qualifying got under way, and Amelia not due to play at all, but Emma is a very late withdrawal?

And then, with the main draw at that time not having been made yet, can they can bring in a replacement MD WC rather than give a LL place?

Could be she has her GCSEs and needs to get her head down!

The main draw is out and Maia is there.

Wildcards have gone to Amelia Rajecki, Victoria Allen, Ella and Tara

edit: I'm too late cry

Could be, she referenced them on her post match interview on Friday and that she has a French oral or something in a few weeks, but she planned to play Sunderland and then have a break for a while, so a bit of a change in just 2/3 days, but yes, a 16 year old with exams in the horizon, missing one of the 7 or 8 home 25k's isn't a big deal long term and her and her team will have it figured out.

A toilet break though seems to have made the difference. Lissey now 4-0 up 2nd set.

Ironically Paar vs Muntean in the first FQR was similarly topsy-turvy with Paar winning 6-0 1-6 10-5

Looks similar to her match against Tara last week (although she didn;t win a set there). Maybe just saving herself for the MTB after losing the early break. Hope so anyway, there's no paulisi with injury reports this week.

Unfortunately it didn't happen with Holly having taken her first set, but it really is amazing the amount of people who lost their 2nd set go on to win the MTB. Must be about 6 of 7 matches in the women's today.

Come on Lissey!
Grace Piper is from Taunton and I watched her in a Team Tennis National Ladies Match last year. She is athletic and hits low and hard. Cant remember anything else except her parents were really nice

Hmm. Hoped maybe that first set was a real upturn in Laura's form since let's face it any represention vaguely near where she once was and she'd apply bakery products to Lissey and many much better.

But the match has certainly taken a turn.

Did anyone see what happened in that last game. Laura was 0-15 up on Lissy's serve and then suddenly I noticed the point had been taken away and Lissy was 40-0?

Yes, just checked the men's results today and 7 matches have went to MTBs and 6 of the winners won the first set. In the women's, 6 went to MTBs and 5 of the winners won their first set, so that's 11 of the 13 winners winning the first set, so there probably is something in the easing off theory, especially if it is a wide 2nd set score.

I though Laura was playing really well when I started watching in the first set, but after the break every shot was either long or in the net. MTB - Cmon Laura..

You certainly get your your money's worth so to speak (obviously it;s free) if you go to quallies. Play could well go on to 10pm, like it did on the Monday in Bolton, whereas, play was often finished by 3/4 during the rest of the week in Bolton with less matches and early starts.
