Freya 6-3
Alicia serving from the match at 6-2 *5-1
Kimberly 1-6 0-6
Encouraging starts for both E Morton and K Pitak against their seeds. But early days in both.
Just wondered if the bookmakers look at UTR ratings as I see Grace p is utr 11 and Kimberly utr 9? Utr seems to be a good predictor for juniors of utr 9 to 12.
Alicia in a strong position now, a set and 3-0* up over Alice.
Is there a reason why Amanda C never considered playing these 2 events? I know she has largely stuck to clay (and carpet) since her return and not played on hard for a couple of years, but she'd be a better MDWC alternative than some. I guess if she sticks to what she is doing on the 15k clay scene, she'll work her way into the clay 25k's soon, but even a first round MDWC defeat here would have given her a bit of a shortcut.
Mandy's only played a few grass court tournaments here, and I'm not sure any since 2016, when she actually performed quite well. She is down this week and next for W15s in Tunisia, and so I'm guessing her strategy is push her ITF ranking up as far as she can in those so that she will then be able to get the IR entries into coming W25s on clay. She needs two more counters to regain her WTA ranking.
Emily has just taken her first set 6-2, well done her.
Alicia won, so plays Laura
K Pitak 5-4*, but there has already been a number of breaks
Freya looks to be struggling a little bit. She won the first set 6-3, but on serve in the second *2-3 to Sasha. 39-36 points, so very close.

Thanks, yeah, probably makes sense and wasn't sure if she was playing in the coming weeks, but looks like she knows what she is doing and probably doesn't need a change of service at this stage.

I mean that's not to take anything away from young Sasha who looks better than a lot of her compatriots playing at this level and obviously made a 15k final last year and had a good run in the BT event the other week, but when you saw her go down 1-6 1-6 in R1 against someone in the mid 250's who hadn't played for 5 months, a level where I'd dearly like Freya to get back to, it does show Freya is a long way off ever returning to that sort of level. Losing to Malmqvist in Q1 last week didn't change opinion either.
Sam may well be favourite to advance should they meet in the FQR

I think Sasha's got good potential but W25s are certainly new ground for her. I thought she might well give Freya a good go there, and am glad to see she is doing so. I'm not sure where Freya's game is going to at the moment to be frank. There have been very few breaks in the match so far, just 2 to Freya and 1 to Sasha, score now Freya 6-3 *3-4

Yep, just as I check back, Hill breaks again and now serving to force a MTB. Both currently on exactly the same points.
Nice to see K Pitak also taking her first set, although I'd rather it have been A Pitak.
Edit - Freya-Sasha into a MTB and at that point, Sasha had more points on the board. 6-3 3-6

Likewise Esther, not quite that standard, but 4-4* in 48 mins with a few long games, none shorter than 30. Good signs considering she is playing the 2nd Q seed.
Obviously Manasse has benefited from the main draw withdrawal and she has got in without the need of quallies. If it was one of ours and she withdrew after the draw, then the likes of Laura-Alicia loser, Sam-Freya loser as well as anyone else like K Pitak who potentially wins Q1 then loses in the FQR would all have a 1/8 chance of making the draw which could have been 4/8 or 1/2 chance of GB getting someone else in rather than Manasse advancing. Good for her and obviously fairer with the higher ranked player profiting, but we're a largely bit biased / patriotic on here
Emily M through to the FQR and a 15th defeat in a row for the seeded opponent. Well done Emily. Think she plays the A Pitak-Noel winner, so would be fantastic if A Pitak wins that to guarantee a qualifier.
