RE: Week 15 - ITF (W25) - Sunderland, GB - Hard Indoor

Wow that's brilliant, Tara, so wonderful to see her having a run here. smile

Yeah, a real story of redemption... but it's not usually a net cord that is the saviour involved! biggrin

Likely to be Harriet next by the way, if she wins 2 more games, so we would then be guaranteed a GB finalist.

Bit of a collapse from Noel from looking comfortable at 6-1 1-0 (and winning a lot of games to 15) to 6-1 2-6 1-5.

And poor Maia, after a 3 and a half hour battle yesterday, over 2 and a half hours in to her match here, she's likely to go into a deciding set - still got doubles to come.

Harriet looks comfortable. Quite similar to her match with the other youngster Molinaro the other day.

I've been watching Harriet on and off throughout the morning in between jobs around the house, and I thought the match was much closer that the score would suggest. The Swiss girl played well and there were lots of long games with multiple deuces, but great to see Harriet showing her greater experience and higher ranking to win most of the important points. Apart from the blip when serving for the match at 5-0 I felt she was always in control. Nice win

At one point it looked like Harriet might score one of the longest fought bagels in history> thirteen deuces in one game alone and nearly an hour before she served for the match> sorry my keyboard is suffering from early onset demEntia > Waltert played very well

So, still a mixed bag in the semi final lineup with high seeds, Brits, wildcards and qualifiers:

(1) Dart vs (WC) Moore
(2) Anderson vs (Q) Paar.

Need a lot more from Tara over the coming months and years to make my purchase to the movie rights of the working title film "It started with a net cord" worthwhile.

But I guess the title this week will do for starters

Wrong title Indy, rather: 'It was never in doubt!'

Tara going from strength to strength at the moment. She and Amina take out last week's doubles title holders now. Potential opponents in the final are on court.

SF: Bektas/ Moore (USA/GBR) [4] 518 (293+225) beat Barnett/ Burrage (GBR/GBR) 1087 (497+590) 6-4 6-1

It's Maja Chwalinska and Eikeri the opponents in the final.

I saw bits and pieces of the Brits doubles, but I was kind of switching between Ryan P and Swiatek (and following Katie S score), so missed a lot of it. There were a few errors from Jodie and Alicia, but Tara + just generally looked that bit better.

Hope Tara can keep her roll going for one more day at least

F: Bektas/ Moore (USA/GBR) [4] 518 (293+225) vs Chwalinska/ Eikeri (POL/NOR) [3] 488 (318+170)

So then, a bit like last week, who do you want to win tomorrow?

Big match for both, Tara could do with the 12 extra points more to give her a better chance of getting into / more choice for future tournaments, especially leading into the grass season. 12 extra points for Harriet doesn't really change too much in the grand scheme of things, she'd jump about 3 or 4 places, but of course an extra 20 for winning the title and the confidence that would bring could be what really gets her season going again after the post Aussie absence. It's a difficult one, I think Harriet will have more chance of winning the final, so ultimately I think I want her to win - but hypothetically, had the winner been guaranteed to lose the final, then I'd have gone for Tara if that makes sense.
