Week 15 - ITF (W25) - Sunderland, GB - Hard Indoor

Dodin did beat Marcinkevica in 3 sets, so that's who Tara plays next and the QF line up is complete:

(1) Dart vs (IR) Waltert
(WC) Moore vs Dodin
(Q) Paar vs Chwalinska
(2) Anderson vs (Q) Noel

So it is a decent mix there, 2 Brits, 2 youngsters, 2 qualifiers, only 2 seeds, but the top 2 and a reasonably big name former top 50 player making her way back from injury.

Moore & Bektas back in action and are a mini break up in the MTB at 4-2*

... and go on to win 4-6 7-6(0) [10-6]

Into the SF.

Round up. Harriet's match might not be so straightforward, and Tara will do well to give Dodin a good go. I hadn't realised that Dodin was as tall as 6ft.

R16: DART, Harriet (GBR) [1] 135 beat ROBSON, Laura (GBR) [Q] 823 6-0 retired
R16: MOORE, Tara (GBR) [WC] 479 beat MORDERGER, Yana (GER) [Q] 754 (CH:518 June 17) 6-4 6-3
R16: ALLEN, Victoria (GBR) [WC] UNR lost to ANDERSON, Robin (USA) [2] 200 (CH:183 July 16) 5-7 2-6
R16: BURRAGE, Jodie Anna (GBR) 334 lost to NOEL, Mallauie (FRA) [Q] 553 (CH:547 Dec 18) 5-7 4-6

QF: DART, Harriet (GBR) [1] 135 vs Simona WALTERT (SUI) 630/26 (CH:438 May 18) 18yrs (JCH:9 Jan 18)
QF: MOORE, Tara (GBR) [WC] 479 vs Oceane DODIN (FRA) 402 (CH:46 June 17)

Order of play out and disappointingly, all 4 women's singles QF matches start at 10.30am followed by the men's - that's put me well off going to be honest. At Glasgow the other month you had a women's QF match followed by another on the same court, so could at least see two back to back and then the other 2 were 2nd on following men's which would also be better as they could start a lot later from each other. At Bolton last week you had Diatchenko following Burrage-Shinikova so would be guaranteed to see 2 back to back, whereas here, it's as if it's just get them out of the way as quick as possible.

In terms of the doubles, Jodie-Alicia beat Freya + pretty comfortably, 2 and 1 so they play Tara +, but Harriet is out. They had *7-6 in the MTB, but lost the next 4 points.

Full doubles scores. Pity the Brit match up is a SF and not a potential final. Jodie and Lissey's doubles rankings should also have quite a boost when last week's and this week's points have all gone on. A very dominant performance for them today.

QF: Dart/ Stojanovic (GBR/SRB) [1] 197 (92+105) lost to Anderson/ Manasse (USA/USA) 559 (350+209) 6-7(5) 6-1 7-10
QF: Bektas/ Moore (USA/GBR) [4] 518 (293+225) beat Hsieh/ Lee (TPE/TPE) 557 (200+357) 4-6 7-6(0) 10-6
QF: Barnett/ Burrage (GBR/GBR) 1087 (497+590) beat Christie/ Savinykh (GBR/UKR) [2] 324 (206+118) 6-2 6-1

SF: Bektas/ Moore (USA/GBR) [4] 518 (293+225) vs Barnett/ Burrage (GBR/GBR) 1087 (497+590)

Harriet 3-1*
Tara 4-2*
Noel flying against Anderson, 5-1* - maybe I have done her a disservice.
Paar a break up, so although still early days, could be a guaranteed qualifier in the final (and hopefully against a guaranteed Brit).

Lovely to close out the set on an ace.

Tara takes it 6-4.

Long way to go in this match still......

But great to see Tara exposing Dodin's Laura-esque movement skills.

Harriet takes her first set 6-4. Quite a good battle, lasted an hour, lots of deuce games and breaks points to be saved, but the solitary break in the opening game proved decisive.

Tara also a break up in the second set, but has just saved a BP 2-1 *40-40

Maja C recovered from 1-3 to take her first set 6-4

Anderson looks on course to take her match with Noel to a decider *5-2

Tara was 40-15 up at 2-1.

Long game, which she ended up losing. Real shame as she had a lot of momentum at that point.

Wow, Tara breaks to love and has a chance to serve it out. 6-4 *5-4.

Some real fight, yet 'calmness', about Tara this second set. As well as some very nice ball skills (as she always has), at the net and in court craft.

Now's the tricky moment though.....

Excellent last game - not in tennis terms (a couple of hideous UEs from Dodin), but in terms of tension. And the last point was a beauty.

Well done, Tara !

So Tara was a net cord away from 'well that was a wasted wildcard' to making a 25k semi final from out of nowhere, and the way it's going elsewhere, hopefully setting up another all GB semi final for the second successive week.

Well done that girl.

Great win and the points will be very welcome - should guarantee her entry into 25k's for a while
