Vic lost 5-7 2-6. So Anderson won the last 5 games in both sets, but a lot of the games went to deuce and good to see her competing well against someone who has just made the top 200 and like last week, got a good win to justify the WC and then competed reasonably well against either the 1st or 2nd seed. Productive 2 weeks for her.
Another 18 year old former top 10 junior up next for Harriet as Simona Waltert beat the 8th seed Eikieri in straight sets to set up that QF. As a fan of the WTA in general, it'll be good to see another decent prospect live so I might head back tomorrow. If Jodie wins then I definitely will as 3 of the 4 matches would involve a GB player.
Thanks Ace. Always good to get that first hand report and more 'feel' for things.
Jodie"s volatility is interesting in its way, wonder if she will calm a fair amount over time. Certainly seems to have been a generally prevailing at least undercurrent with her as opposed to Gabi who 'found' volatility in the latter part of last year.
It's a release mechanism for tension.
It is getting more under control and much quicker than when she was younger.
Watching Jodie was always fun as a junior - LOTS of tantrums.
But it was just her way.
However, I did feel a year ago or so, that she wasn't channelling it positively and really needed to watch herself back on video and see how it was sometimes shooting herself in the foot.
She may well have done this. Or just got a little more mature. But it seems to be going in the right direction.
And she's certainly not the only one - whatever works !
Had a really good time at Sunderland. Some good matches, decent comebacks (although obviously nothing like yesterday), and had a really good chat with one of an LTA member quite high up on the women's side - she confirmed there will definitely be 4 25k women events the other side of the grass season, all in the London
I suspect that would be Julie Piper - tournament organiser. Quite small, dark hair.

That fits the description. She seemed really nice.
I really can't see Laura getting anywhere back to the high levels of yesteryears. Injuries have blighted her career and its a tragedy she's playing at this level
Maja C and Manasse really making Jodie wait, still quite early days in the decider. Neither previous set went too long at 3-6 6-3, but so many games went to deuce.
And speaking of deciding set tie breaks, 17 year old Maja Chwalinska has finally beaten her American opponent, so after 3 and a half hours, Jodie can finally get on the court. She'll have a decent chance of making the semi final as it's qualifier Paar next, although the Romanian has been in decent form these past 3 weeks.
No idea what the current Dodin score is (froze at 5-5 first set) - winner plays Tara next.
There doesn't seem to be a live stream, forJodie's match although this court was definitely available yesterday. Anyone know what's going on?
I assume it won't be. The ITF said they were showing that Maja match (on Jodie's court) but didn't in the end and Jodie is not scheduled to be on Bet365 either. Looks like they have stuck with 2 courts again, Tara's and Harriet-Laura and they are the only women's singles matches being streamed today. Shame.
