Week 14 - ITF (W25) Bolton, GB Hard

Flicking between them, but that looks equally as good a set from Jodie and Emma is 'on the hill'. Would absolutely love that semi final should it happen.

PBG is definitely making more of a fish of if since her MTO, to her credit, but hopefully Emma will see it out soon.

Half way there, brilliant from Emma, 6-1 6-2.

Jodie well on her way as well hopefully 6-1 *3-0. I wonder if Emma watches the rest of the Jodie match and hopefully closing stages.

Emma vs Jodie, if it happens, would be one to delay plans for.

Emma came back from 0-30 to hold for the match.  biggrin

And of course, it is a career-best win for Emma, beating her victory over Haas (WR190) at Wirral last year.

Playing some superb tennis there, great to watch on the stream.

Superb from Jodie as well 6-1 6-0.

The ace count will just say 7, but it's effectively so much more. Far too much power there for Shinikova.

Thoroughly enjoyed that morning. biggrin

Right!

Emma vs Jodie, semi final tomorrow, who do you want to win and why?

I for one really don't have a preference.  They have both played superbly and I'm absolutely delighted to see them both in the semis.  Really looking forward to watching this match and seeing who comes out on top as I couldn't call it.  I just hope it's a good close contest and they can both walk away with their heads held high.

Both of them please.

I initially was going to say Jodie because of the real boost it will give her if she can get to the final and indeed win that. Whereas not sure Emma needs much more boosting, she's doing just fine! But then certainly shouldn't harm her to get 25K final experience and well the hopes we have for her ...

Pass.

More important, in my view, is who do you think is GOING to win, not who you want to win.

So I'm going for Jodie (for the one I think is going to win), just because you've got to pick one.

Personally I always love it if a real youngster wins (and especially one of ours . (This is coming from someone who loathes nationalism politically, but I seem to make an exception for tennis!!). So yes, I would be over the moon if Emma won

I genuinely can't wait. I really hope they can set up some kind of seating arrangement and get a few more in to watch and make a bigger event of it.

If Emma wins, she will get an SE (I think...) so should save one of her WC allocations and allow someone else the chance to play which is good, although to be fair, it's quite a struggle to name 4 MDWCs from the options with Emma, never mind another, but if Holly or Alice or Sasha were to get another bonus chance then it'll do them good and will be no harm done.

Emma has largely been considered our brightest prospect for quite some time and rightly so (IMO), but she is not too far past her 16th birthday, still studying, so you think will get a lot more opportunities later, that said, Jodie has already made a 25k final this year whereas Emma has just matched her SF showing from last year, so would be great for her to experience a final. But ultimately with Jodie playing full time with no restrictions, will almost crack the top 300 with a final showing, and this is her absolute priority, I think I would like her to win.

It might also come down to who you think will have more chance in the final and I'd probably go for Jodie as well, but if it is Emma who prevails, that'll be fine (and maybe more exciting) and we will get that additional WC.

Not to be missed.

Emma for me - it's like following Robbo again, only Emma is delivering more consistently, so less stressful to follow.

Hmmm, if Emma wins will she get another SE, or does that only kick in if there's no time to travel between events?
