Had a plane to catch!!

Well, there may be some sceptics here () but the official line, as above, is:

LTA Competitions @LTACompetitions 6h6 hours ago

An early end to the first match of the day! No. 2 seed Marc-Andrea Huesler calls it a day after the warm-up due to injury, and GB's Lloyd Glasspool is straight into the singles semifinals! #GBProSeries #tennis

To be fair there was a video of Huesler and Lloyd walking off the court. I dont think Huesler wouldve gone to that much trouble if he wanted to be somewhere else.

It looks as though the LTA was telling porkies:  Hüsler is definitely in Taipei!

Don't worry, he'll be playing challengers soon when his ITF ranking gets bumped up

But on the other hand, while I'm not as interested in the men's game and didn't watch the match, so don't know the context, nor do I know much about this Sizzling fella and if he should really be competing above this level, you'd think if Lloyd is losing routinely in next to no time in a 25k match, especially being fresh from a QF bye, it wouldn't bode too well going into the generally stronger challenger level.

this Sizzling fella (as your predictive texting has it presumably!), did have a career high of 52 5-7 years ago, and was below 200 until 3 years ago. He should have always been one to watch this week and next as the potential winner.  I think it's no surprise that he trounced Lloyd, though in 45 minutes is pretty impressive.

Noticed it's going to be an all Dutch singles and doubles finals.

Sijsling's scores in his 4 matches so far this week.

6-1 6-2 (against 3rd seed with WR 364)
6-2 6-1
6-2 6-2 (against Evan on a hot streak)
6-2 6-0

So I don't think we should read too much into Lloyd's result other than Sijsling, when fit, is far too good for this level.

Yep, that is impressive, especially the ones you expanded on.

On the other hand, I suppose it's just tennis as well. In the women's, 7th seed Shinikova, ranked circa 200, won a 25k title a few weeks ago and her fans would see her come up against a qualifier in Jodie, ranked 350, and expect her to have a great chance of making the semi final, yet goes down 1-6 0-6.

That's why we love tennis.  Anything can happen.

Hi level final and the better player won (just) - no wonder Liam lost to him...
