There was a slight chance because Jakupovic is a fair draw at WTA level. This time last year, at 27, she was playing Gabi in a Canberra 60k clay event, her natural level at the time as she'd never been higher than 130/140 at that stage and it was only really during the grass season that she broke into the top 100 for the first time in her career. But then again, Harriet was obviously circa 310 around 14 months ago, so has done extremely well to get to where to she has and it does kind of feel anything else would be a bonus.
Maybe the late flight in from France contributed a bit, but it was just the manner that wasn't too encouraging. Just seemed pretty weak and there were a fair few seemingly easy put aways that she put too long and it never really felt that she was in the match.
Still, another WTA main draw match for her so experience there and hopefully in the coming months, these will become more normal to her. It'll be interesting to see what she does after the Fed Cup as last year she played WTA Istanbul quals, but also had a bit of success in the Asian ITF events. I wonder if she tries to mix them again this year or just concentrate on one or the other?
Edit - mind, although it was a WTA event, I did say during the match it was very reminiscent of a 60k event and a million miles away from a typical WTA centre court. For those with BT Sport, you can get a huge contrast if you put BT Sport 1 on (Charleston centre court) and then switch to BT Sport 2 (the Monterrey outside court that Dart was on).

Just looking at the match stats, the glaring discrepancy between Harriet and her opponent, was the number of first serve points won. This suggests to me with the added pace on the ball from the first serve, the opponents return was back at Harriet a bit quicker than she could handle. If that's correct, then Harriet needs to do a bit more with the first serve, playing at this higher tournament level. All the other stats were not too dissimilar between the two players.
At 540 metres it may not seem that much but players have talked about the effects on the ball through the air in Madrid and Munich, similar altitudes of 667 m and 519 m respectively, so the same return would arrive back quicker here, other things being equal.
Harriet won't have had that much time to experience the difference from norm on court. I don't think it is high enough to have had much more general short climatisation effect but still overall not ideal to fly in to play relatively quickly
