I'm assuming that she can't enter two tournies in the same week, even if one is WTA and the other ITF.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. That was her first match in 3 weeks and won't play until the following Tuesday now.

Well that draw could have gone slightly better...

Jakupovic will be pretty happy drawing Harriet, and she should be favourite, but there could be a slight opportunity there - Dart would have probably taken that before the draw was made and obviously far better than what she could have got as Katie and Heather would tell you.

Disappointing result for Katie, but I wonder what Gabi will be thinking? Not sure whether that means Gabi can look forward to climbing back up to the 170s or Katie to plunging down to the 280s. From that slew of poor results that Ace listed sadly the latter is the more likely option at the moment. Katie will start to leak points from later this month then throughout May and the grass court season...So come on Katie, and indeed let's hope those one or two shoots of hope from Gabi take root too... We need both of you now.

I mean Katie has been winning matches these past 7/8 months - she reached a 60k SF in China, 25k SF in Australia and the recent 25k+H SF in Mexico in that time, so her ranking has largely been preserved, it's just when you actually break it down when it does become much more concerning. She was 4th seed in that China 60k and beat 466, 282 and 355 before losing to Yafan. In Playford, she was 4th seed again and beat the aforementioned Italian with no hard/grass/carpet wins for 4 years, then 386 and 352 before losing in straights to the similarly ranked Rybakina. She also beat the #966 in a 100k Chinese event, so that was a gift of 13 points just like that, so she could probably pick and choose her tournaments wisely to gain some points - e.g. her next tournament in Calvi (where she'll be top seed), the 9th highest ranked player is 346, so she'll probably get a decent enough path to the QFs and 11 more points, but it doesn't really do much for progression / development or even hope on here that she is going the right way.

She has obviously had her injuries - back and foot the most recent, but by the time she next plays, it'll be nearly 8 months since that Watson US Open loss and to exchange wins with Thandi and lose to Tomova, Ruse, Cepede-Royd and Rybakina isn't too encouraging, especially as discussed on that Miami thread, this is supposed to be one of our brighter lights.

There's a breakdown of her results - the Andreescu ret defeat isn't showing correctly for some reason, still just says Swan vs Andreescu.

Reason for withdrawl?  Could have serious implications  for Fed Cup prospects.

All we need now is for something to happen to Johanna Konta. Jo seems to be in the Lake District  judging by her social media accounts  At this rate Laura Robson and Tara Moore will be getting a call up.
