Pleased for Emily and glad she's getting a few wins, even if just at the 15k level.
She must be having a good time as I see she is hanging around Mexico a bit longer. I don't think there's an event there next week, but there is another 15k the week after, the same time as Sunderland, and I saw she withdrew from Sunderland earlier in the week (her Priority 1) when she would have been one of the five IRs. Fancy rather being in Cancun than the lovely North East

And having bugs coming out of her cereal as she wrote in her sky post after her first week there

Didn't see that, so will have to check that out, ha.
Regarding the next opponent, I see she also comfortably beat the same top seed last week, but then lost 2 and 3 to Emily's good friend Lou Brouleau in the next round. I've hardly heard of many of these players outside the top 400 or so, so perhaps Babic just matches up well with Gamiz or the latter is too high ranked from points won a long time ago or something. Here's hoping anyway...
Emily was the clear betting favourite in these two rounds and that likely won't be the case tomorrow, but I guess at least it's not Brouleau.
Emily breaks in the final game eventually and comes through relatively easily. Next up she plays Babic, who took out the top seed, Andrea Gamiz, easily in the first round and also won easily today. They are similar (WTA) rankings, and will be a good test for Emily. She will not be favourite.

Emily will either play Brouleau (who has beaten her the last 2 tournaments) or 3rd seed Hourigan of NZ. The kiwi has just gone a break up in the 2nd set after taking the first 6-4, so probably a new opponent for her.
Edit - just saw that Hourigan beat Brouleau in the SF here last week on her way to winning the title, but she lost in R1 the week before.

A good win indeed for Emily, and takes her to the SF, a level beyond her ranking. She will face Hourigan next, who comfortably beat Brouleau, who comfortably beat Emily in both the first two tournaments here. So very unlikely Emily will prevail meaning she can swing freely...
Hourigan retired at that point, so whether she was impacted throughout the match, or just lost motivation when broken and saw no way back, it matter little, Emily joins Emma in a 15k final tomorrow.
It's 2nd seed Montserrat Gonzalez in the final for Emily who came from behind to beat Branstine in the other semi final. Seems a bit strange / unfortunate that a 24 year old, who has been in the top 150 before as well as making the 2nd round of a slam is now in the 450s and competing in 15ks. I think she has had her share of injuries, but looking at her record, there's no lengthy layoffs where she's been out for months.

If I was given the choice between Bolton or Sunderland or Cancun I know which one I'd go for
